Auto Logout Feature
Because the Mentor is a "members only" website, it has a security feature that
guards against simultaneous logins from different locations.
Theoretically, this could cause you some inconvenience if you use the Mentor at
work, and then forget to log out at the end of the day. If you then log
back in from home in the evening, the security software interprets this as two
users with the same password -- one at your work IP address, and one at
home. This results in your access being suspended for up to 24 hours…or
until the administrator can re-set your access level.
First, in the unlikely even that you do get locked out because of
simultaneous log ins, the website administrator is notified by email and can
resolve the situation very quickly.
Inactivity Auto Logout Feature
However, this should not be an issue because of the auto-logout
feature. There is an automatic timer on the website that logs you out if
you are inactive for 20 minutes. Therefore, if you leave work without
logging out, the website takes care of it for you and you will have no problem
logging in from a different location.
Just Click "OK"!
The popup looks like this:
You may encounter this popup if you have a browser window open, but are
not actively using the Mentor. If this popup does appear, do
not just close the popup box. Instead,
just click "OK". By simply clicking "OK", the 20
minute timer is reset, the box will disappear, and you can go on about your
business.
No Need to Refresh!
It is not necessary to refresh your screen if you click "OK".
This is important if you happen to be typing a comment in the Community
Forum. Refreshing your screen erases anything you have typed in the
comment box. Yes, it re-starts the 20 minute timer, but you've lost your
work. Clicking "OK" button preserves your work and re-starts the
timer. Just click "OK", OK?
After you click "OK", another box will appear that looks like this:
Just close that box by clicking the red "X" in the upper right corner.
By just clicking "OK", the security feature will work for you and not against
you. You can stay logged in as long as you want, and will only be
automatically logged out if you forget to do it at the end of the day.
